You give me the # 1 defense in the NFL and the # 1 rush offense in the NFL, and I will gladly take the points anywhere on planet earth.

I know the Chargers are great, and have been great, but fact of the matter is the strength of this Jets team is their offensive line while the weakness of San Diego is their defensive line.

The Jets will attack the Chargers the same way they attacked the Bengals both offensively and defensively.

Establish the run, get Sanchez in very manageable 3rd downs and keep the chains moving.

New York faced what I felt was a better all around defense in the Bengals last week, and their offensive gameplan was brilliant and I credit offensive coordinator Schottenheimer for his play calling.

I see much of the same here.

It is very hard to blowout a team that brings the # 1 defense and # 1 run game in the NFL as long as they play error free football, and if the Jets win the turnover battle, they do have a chance to shock the world.

Now if you don’t turn the ball over in 10 degree weather against the 5th best overall defense in Cincinnati, I just don’t see you turning it over in 75 degree weather in sunny San Diego against the 16th ranked defense.

Do the Chargers scare me? Absolutely, but again I didn’t see anything from the Jets last week against Cincy that leads me to believe Sanchez is going to play this game like a deer caught in the headlights.

In fact, he came of age last week in Cincy. He looked very comfortable, but folks any QB would feel comfortable when you have a rush attack like the Jets.

Once Rex Ryan and his staff stop asking Sanchez to win games, and started having him manage games, this team became dangerous, very dangerous.

People can say Indy rested players but it was a 15-10 game 3rd quarter when they sat their starters, and Jets ball so I don’t want to hear that.

This team is playing with a lot of confidence and catching more than a TD is value I can’t pass up today.

Peyton owns the Ravens.

Back in November he took his Colts into Baltimore and engineered a 17-15 Colts win and cover.

In that game the Ravens were driving and were in field goal range, when Flacco threw a terrible pick and Indy secured the win.

It was a weird game from the standpoint Indy was up 14-12 and going in for another touchdown early 3rd quarter when tight end Santi fumbled at the Ravens 2 yard line keeping those 7 points off the board.

The Ravens did move the ball well but settled for 5 field goals, and also missed a 30 yarder as well.

Last year he was rusty when he faced them at home in week 6 and lit them up 31-3 like it was nobody’s business – and how did Joe Flacco do against Indy’s cover two defense?

The Ravens only crossed into Colts territory on three of their 12 drives and turned the ball over five times.

Not enough for you, let me take you back to the 2006 season when the Ravens met the Colts in the 2nd round of the NFL playoffs in Baltimore.

Ravens were off a bye week. They had the # 2 run defense. The # 6 pass defense. The # 1 overall defense. They were ready.

Peyton Manning and the Colts won the game 15-6 on the way to their Super Bowl victory.

Let me break it down a little easier for you.

Throw out the performance of Tom Brady last week, the fact of the matter is Tom looked like he didn’t want to be there as did the rest of the Patriots.

On the road at San Diego, Rivers was 25 for 45 for 421 yards and if not for a horrific 4th and 1 play call, they don’t beat Philip Rivers. Aaron Rogers had a big day. Brett Favre had a big day. Rothliesberger had a big day.

The weakness of this Ravens defense is their secondary and if you don’t get pressure with your blitz, your man to man coverage behind it is going to get lit up like a Christmas tree at night.

Prior to beating the Patriots last week the Ravens had only 2 road wins, the Browns and the Raiders. Most alarming is the fact if the Raiders had a Quarterback other than JaMarcus Russell, I believe the Ravens don’t win that game.

Question, who is the best QB in the NFL at handling the blitz? Answer is 100% without a doubt Peyton Manning.

This is as bad a matchup for the Ravens as you can ask for, and I fully expect Peyton to do what he always does versus this Baltimore team and that is execute his offense to precision and get the win.

I am aware of the fact Indy is 0-3 in the playoffs coming off a bye week and if they were playing anybody else other than the Ravens I might be inclined to look the other way.

Fact of the matter is Ray Lewis and this Ravens defense could match wits with Peyton 100 times, and I would go with Peyton all 100, unless the Ravens made a drastic change in their defensive philosophy.

That is not happening in mine or yours lifetime.The Ravens do what they do. Blitz, and play man behind it. If you can protect and beat us.Congrats. You beat us but it still won’t stop us from blitzing.

It is who they are.

Honestly, beating a team once or twice in a row, or even 3 times in a row maybe considered lucky…but 7 times in a row? With the same QB and the same basic defense this QB has seen all 7 times? My point exactly.

Do you really think the Ravens can come up with anything in this game Peyton hasn’t seen from them before? And he faces them at home.

The Colts have a lot to prove today. All this talk of about sitting starters and not going for 16-0 and having to answer questions about it and defend their coach and what they did.

Bottom line is an emphatic win today at home silences everyone and trust me, behind closed doors, Indy is on a mission today to quiet the critics and with an impressive performance today announces to the NFL world we are the team to beat.

I am getting great line value with Indy laying less than a touchdown at home against a team they just flat out match up well against and I will gladly grab that value and sit back and watch the Indy machine show up and flat out get the job done.

Indy rolls by double digits Saturday night.



25 DIME – ARIZONA CARDINALS -

I’m gonna ride them.

Could they get blown out? Absolutely but until somebody does blow them out, I will gladly grab a touchdown with a red hot playoff QB working in an offense he loves.

When you start going 29 of 33 in a playoff game against a top 3 defense, you have to take notice. Even more impressive is the fact you put up 29 of 33 without your # 2 wide receiver.

Saints just aren’t the team we saw early on. Their defense isn’t getting turnovers like they were earlier in the year and the reason why is they are banged up.

This game may very well come down to who has the ball last but this Cardinals bunch is a hard bunch to blow out with the offensive weapons they have.

Am I a bit concerned about their defense? Yes but understand, their defense wasn’t as bad as they looked last week.

When a team gets down 3 touchdowns in the 2nd half, the game becomes a run and gun affair, the offensive game plan is out the window and everything is a scramble.

There are alarming things that force me to back the Cardinals here.

After their loss to Dallas the Saints still had to play hard to secure the home field in the NFC when they faced Tampa Bay the following week and to watch them lose that game at home 20-17 sets off warning signs to me.

The bottom line is until somebody plays well enough to cover a playoff game versus Kurt Warner and Ken Wisenhunt, I will gladly grab the value with the hot underdog and let the chips fall where they may.

I am counting on the Cardinals to win the turnover battle and if they do, chances are they win the game outright. I like my chances with Kurt Warner, indoors, on a fast track, against a suspect defense.

If Jason Campbell can have a career day against this Saints defense and Chris Redman can throw for over 300 yards on this Saints defense, I will let the good times roll with Warner.

- (if 3 1/2 you buy the 1/2 and lay 3. Never get beat by the hook.) – Until somebody shows me they can roll into Foxboro and beat Tom Brady and Bill Belichick in a playoff game, I will lay the number and roll with this combo everyday of the week.

Joe Flacco has had a nice year, but on the road in the playoffs I just don’t trust him in his 2nd year.

I know he was somewhat successful last year in reaching the AFC championship game versus the Steelers and played well, but fact of the matter is he is no Tom Brady.

I also feel we are getting solid line value with the Patriots with Welker being out and just how big a deal everyone is making out of it and how Tom Brady can’t survive without him.

Well my friends, I disagree.

Edleman filled in fantastic last week and he is a mini-me of Welker, and at home in a playoff atmosphere, this Patriots bunch will be hard to beat.

I don’t think Joe Flacco knows just how hard a place this is to win in, and you don’t know it until you have at least experienced it a time or two.

Somebody should have given Flacco Peyton Manning’s number because he can tell him how hard it is to win there seeing as Peyton couldn’t do it either.

New England was a perfect 8-0 at home winning every single home game by double digits with exception to week one beating the Bills by 1 and week 3 beating these Ravens by 6.

This game may be close for awhile but against this poor secondary of the Ravens they will do what they have done all year long and that is give up the big play to a good QB and I think we can agree Brady is just that.

This game will come down to which QB is able to make the big play and for my dollar it’s Brady at home to remain perfect in the playoffs. Simple as that.

25 DIME – GREEN BAY-ARIZONA OVER – Nothing leads me to believe this meeting will be any different than the last meeting.



You saw the Jets handle the Bengals for the 2nd week in a row. You saw the Cowboys handle the Eagles for the 2nd week in a row.

The Green Bay Packers will complete the hat-trick for rematch games with the win today.

If you give Aaron Rogers time to throw, he is going to make you pay. It really is as simple as that.

Now I said yesterday the Bengals just don’t match up with the Jets, and then they went out and proved me right. Well my feeling today is exactly the same with the Packers and the Cardinals.

For whatever reason, whether it’s the receiver corps or Rogers or Grant, the Packers have their way offensively with this Cardinals defense and because of that, they are without question the right side to this game.

Now does the line move scare me a bit? Absolutely. The world has moved this line from the Cardinals -2 1/2 to the Packers -1 1/2 as of this writing Saturday night.

Now you can look at this line move 2 ways. The first is everyone is betting the Packers and the linemaker can do nothing but move the line or two, maybe Green Bay should have been a 2 point favorite all along.

Either way, I just don’t like the way the Cardinals have looked down the stretch and especially Kurt Warner. Since his concussion he hasn’t seemed himself and bottom line is I don’t trust him in this spot today.

As I said at the top, Jets delivered for a 2nd straight week, the Cowboys delivered for the 2nd straight week and I see no reason why the Packers, winners of 7 of their last 8 SU and 7-0-1 ATS to flat out pay out like a slot machine once again.

You add the fact the Packers have gone over 13 of their last 16 as a road favorite of 0-to-3 points, and the Cardinals have gone over 11 of their last 13 as an underdog of 0-to-3 points and I love the over as well.

I truly feel this is going to be a track meet from the opening kickoff and when the smoke clears the Packers win this won 34-27.
